Of different species, Chuck, a boy, and Chen, a goose, have in common their addiction to hilarious situations, from our point of view, but just plain bad luck from theirs. A fire in the yard ellicits shouts from father for the hose; typically Chuck brings the hoes. At school, with finger locked in slot, Chuck must be sawed out of the tambourine. Finally disrupting Uncle Bill's birdwatching by mistaking a spider on the telescope lens for a huge monster, Chuck is banished to fish alone. And along comes curious Chen, who has been having troubles of his own too. In a surprising bit of good luck, the captured goose is freed..
