Eric Sloane's Almanac and Weathercaster (1955) alerted the neophyte to the eccentricities of weather. And this provides yet another approach to that subject about which we- presumably- can do nothing. He is angling his topic to the air mass bubbles that influence weather- and to that end has collected stories and experiences and impressions of a motley assemblage of people whose everyday lives direct their attention more than commonly to the sky. A bush pilot, a guide, a priest, a parachuter, a flier, a sign painter, an airline pilot, a bird watcher, a farmer, a doorman, a drover, and last but not least, a sailor- each with his tale, his philosophy, his particular awareness of the phenomena. The market will be limited- but appreciative.
