KIRKUS REVIEW

Perry Mason to the rescue- this time with more evident cooperation in turning over evidence to the police, for what was at stake was his own position. He had engineered a shirt around on a slander suit- only to find that perhaps the charge had justification, and that his sole witness had taken a powder. The matter at hand is the authenticity of a modern masterpiece; two dealers and critics were at odds; a gifted copyist refused to reveal who had ordered the copy-and why; a millionaire owner tried to sidestep when his case was threatened. All very involved- but with a pat ending that disposes of all the problems and leaves Perry Mason triumphant but somewhat sub.
