PHILOSOPHICAL UNDERSTANDING AND RELIGIOUS TRUTH

This is certainly not a book that he who runs may read. It is a definitely scholarly examination of basic religious truths in the light of modern philosophy. He shows how religious thought alone can explain some of the phenomena of certain metaphysical problems. The author is a theist and he is attempting to refute the arguments of the many modern thinkers who have bowed religion off the stage as unimportant and untrue. This is a volume which theologians will welcome and which philosophers will respect. The author has since 1939 been Research Associate in Philosophy at Harvard. Previous works of his in German are internationally known.
