Three more additions to the new Harlequin series are added to the earlier Don Quixote and Puss in Boots, reported on p. 632. The megalomaniacal mirages which have endeared Baron Munchhausen to generations of children will entertain new readers in this presentation. The Simpletons, probably the least familiar of the books, gives the story of the townspeople of Schilda -- who were so brilliant that all their men were siphoned off by other communities. So in self-defense they decided to act stupid. Horst Lemke's sprightly and capricious illustrations redeem a heavy-handed comedy. Till Eulenspiegel, Europe's favorite clown, romps through a dozen adventures. Of the three the braggadaccio of the bumbling Baron might have widest appeal.
