the Island of Rogen, in northern Norway where ""the sun hides its face"", ived young Hakon, a boy who had the strength and courage of a man. When his father is killed, Hakon is made a lowly slave by his tyrannical, jealous uncle. The young boy escapes after a time, and dwells in a damp, dreary cave, until he eventually efeats his wicked uncle, and becomes the rightful lord of the island. The haunting Beowulf-like world is not vividly recreated, but the incredible adventures of Hakon should appeal to the more imaginative members of this age group.
