THE VARIETIES OF NEW TESTAMENT RELIGION by Ernest F. Scott

THE VARIETIES OF NEW TESTAMENT RELIGION

By

Publisher: Scribner

While the author is a well known and brilliant scholar, this work should have a wide appeal to all those interested in a modern interpretation of our Christian faith. Dr. Scott's thesis is that the New Testament gives not one consistent pattern of thought but varying and eve conflicting interpretations of the meaning of Jesus for the world. Each New Testament writer made his own approach to the gospel, understood it differently, and this diversity of interpretation is the very genius of Christianity. Accordingly, he outline the essential elements in Hellenisti Christianity, the religion of Paul, Aplyl Christianity, the New Testament moralists and the Johannine Christianity, and shows how thse all found their place in a common religion.
