Ernest Lewis has built up a fairly dependable market, half juvenile, half adult, those who like the Ernest Thompson Seton sort of thing, with more authentic fact thinly camouflaged as fiction. This is the story of the education of a fox, Child of the Mist, how he grew up in the wilds of Scotland, how he learned to hunt both animal and fowl, and finally how he is caught and shipped to a hunting estate as legitimate bait for hounds. Time and again he wins out, raises a family, eventually escapes to the seacoast and forgetfuiness. There's nothing sentimental nor overdramatic, but there is too much obvious fodder for the nature lover on all sorts of wild life, birds, deer, moles, etc. etc.
