HERE WE ARE: Stories from Scholastic

Here's a good introduction to some of the outstanding writers today, for as one glances down the table of contents, one realizes that in 20 years' span, Scholastic has done a good deal of trail blazing, introducing authors who later won fame in the adult field, and publishing high grade stories by ""comera"" whose names were already featured. Dorothy Parker, Sally Benson, Katherine Brush, Albert Halper, Sinclair Lewis, Marjoris Rawlings, Stephen Denet, Dorothy Canfield Fisher, John Steinbeck, William Saroyan, Ruth Suckow, Ring Lardner, Martha Foley, and others of equal merit. One suspected inclusion for the sake of names -- but actual reading of the stories themselves revealed the contrary, here are as good stories as the writers have done. The biographical notes are well dood -- running commentary on modern literature.
