NEW FRONTIERS FOR FREEDOM

This is a book to link with Randall's Creed for Free Enterprise and in its pages Canham, of the Christian Science Monitor endorses much the same program that Randall subscribes to, but expands his thinking internationally, and stresses more emphatically that our society is significant only so far as its values are spiritual and moral. He portrays the enterprise system of mid-century American capitalism, seeing closer attainment of balanced economic power. He summarizes the world setting, the challenge of our new responsibilities. He explores the two principles of world policy, self-determination on an individual level, and interdependence on a national, and he faces the challenge of acceptance of the status quo. He feels we are still experiencing a revolution of our own, but sees its resolution in sharing our techniques, efficient management, better labor attitudes, and gift for organization, linked with a new sense of collective responsibility. With a ""businessman's government"" in power, he grants the achievements of the New Deal, while charting a program to control statism and to build a constructive peace program, reaffirming the principles on which we have built.
