BORIS AND HIS BALALAIKA

Russian peasant atmosphere pervades this story of a well-meaning boy named Boris who bungles every job given to him. Eventually, however, he makes good by entertaining the Commander-in-chief of all Russian Armies with his balalaika playing and is given a special position in the Army with orders to spend all his time cheering up the soldiers with his strumming. Cheerful illustrations carry out the pleasantly peasanty spirit of the story.
