SWIFT FLIES THE FALCON

This is a story of the Crusades -- not a wholly credible story, but an interesting one, which unfortunately leaves the reader with a number of loose ends at the close. So far as it goes, however, it is a good yarn, with the use of falconry as an unusual element in helping the crusaders to their end. The story traces the wanderings of a small band, gathered around a youth, whose father had gone ahead -- and been lost sight of -- and his sister who refused to stay behind, as ward of the tyrant who threatened to seize their father's lands. Plenty of adventure; a graphic, if sometimes confused, picture of life in Europe in those days.
