KIRKUS REVIEW

A charming little story of a Chinese girl, Chingling, who gets into all sorts of trouble, but manages to make a place for herself with the uncle who thought he only wanted her brother. Good picture of life on the streets of a Chinese city. A good companion story to Mei Li by Thomas Handforth (which is my choice for the Caldecott medal for picture books which is due to be announced within the week).
