KIRKUS REVIEW

Another story of pets, though this time the scene is China, and the hero is a small Chinese boy whose pleadings for a dog are ignored by his family, until progress from goldfish to a water buffalo cause such consternation that a dog is secured. I haven't seen the illustrations (by Laura Bannon), but if they compare with its companion volume illustations, these should make two popular animal plus children favorites.
