NO PIGS, NO POSSUMS, NO PANDAS

Ralphie wants a pet that's different -- but mother insists, ""No pigs, no possums, no pandas"". In fact, she says ""no"" to almost any pet Ralphie suggests, the giraffe, the hippo, the elephant, the leopard, etc. Yet she manages to convince Ralphie (and his readers) of the special quality in the ordinary little puppy he finally gets. After all, it really belongs to him. The text is merely a vehicle for the superb photographs of all the animals mother and Ralphie mention. They are in black and white and extremely appealing.
