MEN OF THE R.A.F.

Publisher: Oxford

In pen and picture, the R.A.F. as portrayed by two of England's distinguished artists. The book is divided into three parts. The first is by Sir Wm. Rothenstein who writes his impressions of the men, the planes, the life in the various R.A.F. stations among which he spent two years as he sketched officers and pilots, and which emphasizes the quiet confidence of these few who carry on the tradition of chivalry in single combat. The second part is a layman's glimpse of Lord David Cecil, which in beautiful prose portrays the man, a laconic, understating group with great feeling of corporate loyalty, their life of great strain and great exhiliration, and its ""free, gallant adventure"". The last section presents 40 of Rothenstein's pencil drawings. A beautiful place of book-making.
