THE MAN WHO WAS NOT THERE

Terrorisation for Ann, who -- in the hope of remeeting Stephen, attends the reunion of an old college secret society which is led by Richard. Going to the estate of Richard's uncle on the outskirts of London, she finds Richard more malevolent than ever -- and has equal cause to fear from the privately owned zoo on the property. Through the night the animals are incited against the returning members, adultery -- blackmail -- and murder are exposed, until finally Richard, the instigator of much of it, is killed and the atmosphere cleared for her encounter with Stephen. Synthetic soaring.
