KIRKUS REVIEW

Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Russia -- odds and ends of travel reminiscences, again not a guide book. In fact, while there is humor and color and drama there is also a certain sort of recurrent disillusionment, a restlessness, a seeking for the ideal which does not exist. Entertaining reading, two thirds through. The English part of the book indicates a certain padding out with random essays, out of line with the tempo of the rest of the book, and is too British in viewpoint to give the American reader a sense of sympathy and an interest pitched to the earlier part of the volume.
