Again the Newburyport setting for another good Parston story. The mystery back of the robbery of Major Marrender and the loss of all his cash has the town agog, children and grown-ups alike. The suspense is well sustained, the background well drawn. In addition, there is genuine humor, shrewd characterization, and the authentic flavor of the early 1800's. Good material in this field is hard to find, and Ethel Parton's books, while not important, meet a real need.
