This is the second collection of short stories by a strange talent that bears some resemblance to the work of Elizabeth Madox Roberts. There are eight stories of the Natches Trace, an odd blend of realism and fantasy, of transient emotions and fancies, accomplished in the telling. There's a story of a deaf bootblack and Aaron Burr, of the women who haunt a New Orleans gaming table, of a young girl waiting for her love, of a colored girl who marries too old a man, and so on. Not for a wide market.
