KIRKUS REVIEW

The songs threaded through the ""Little House"" books, often in snatches, have been traced via ""early sheet music, hymnals, song albums and broadsides,"" newly and practically arranged for piano and guitar by composer Hubert Haufrecht, and presented with some of the appropriate Garth Williams illustrations. Mrs. Garson, for whom this was a long labor of love, tells a little about each song and places it in the context of the story, also supplying a page reference for each. The index sensibly includes distinct entries for title, first line and first line as per Wilder. It's an attractive volume in the spirit of the books, and sure to delight the children and families who have enjoyed them.
