KIRKUS REVIEW

The editor of this collection is the well known storyteller. Her story hours for the New York and Cincinnati Public Libraries were the proving grounds for these favorites. Beston's The Lost Half Hour, Pyle's The Swan Maiden, Kipling's The Elephant's Child, Ransome's Baba Yaga are only a few of those included here. Of particular interest is the editor's short concluding essay, ""To Tell A Story"". Some hints on the preparation and selection of stories for telling and some very practical remarks about the physical set up of the story hour should prove more than a little helpful to people about to learn this art the hard way.
