SALVATION THROUGH SEX: The Life and Work of Wilhelm Reich

Those who have read any of the twenty or more of Chesser's books on life and everyday living and sex -- trots for the family bookshelf -- will be familiar with the page or two presentation with small headings like ""Harmful Family Ties"" or ""The Wheat and the Chaff."" While disposing of Reich's life in about four pages (you'll do better on all of this with his wife Ilse's 1969 memoir) Chesser topically tabulates his work which consisted of all those interests and theories and experiments. Notably sex and education or both, vegetotherapy and orgone therapy, with his greatest contribution here seen as his ""psychomatic approach."" The monograph barely runs to more than 100 pages and one would think that Reich -- as well as his resurgent audience -- would demand a greater degree of sophistication than this kind of peapod precis offers.
