LETTERS TO CHILDREN

A library and school item, perhaps, but in very limited quantities. Really, I can't see where this would be used, except for special reference. Interest in collections of letters at best is problematical, and these letters are conspicuous chiefly for two things,-- the surprising variety of the sources -- and the surprising dullness and pomposity of the content. Material dates back to days of Medicis, and represents many nations and personages of historical and literary and artistic interest. Possibly a distinguished book -- but not a book that will find wide appeal.
