PAVO AND THE PRINCESS

Exquisitely drawn pictures accompany the story of a beautiful but unfeeling princess who would never cry. In an attempt to touch the Princess' heart, the King gave her Pavo, a peacock, but she only tormented the poor bird, until he flew away. Realizing her cruelty, the Princess began a marathon cry, which eventually so moved Pavo that he too started to weep, and let his loud, harsh voice give away his hiding place. The elegantly formalized drawings of graceful design forms set against geometric blocks of jeweled tones are, like the Princess, beautiful but a bit cold in accompaniment to this tender story.
