Peter is proud of his brand-new pants, even though they're a little stiff. But when he goes on an outing with Uncle Nick, he discovers to his chagrin that they lack pockets. Not to worry: Uncle Nick puts Pete's treasures (feather, button, nickel, etc.) in his pockets. When they get home, Mama does still better: she sews colorful patch pockets from interesting sources (last year's bathing suit, yard-sale remnant) all over his pants. Parker's cheerful, easily read illustrations are just right for this pleasant bit of problem-solving.
