THE NANNY

Nanny is a pillar of placidity, and she has taken wonderful care of Joey's mother ever since Joey, at 6, killed his little brother and had to be sent away to a school for disturbed children. But now, 8, Joey is no longer disturbed; he's ready to come home, except for Nanny who frightens him and who is told to leave him alone, in fact leave altogether. But Nanny is very secure; she knows how she can stay for ever and ever and unhappily ever after. Read on, you will, it's very preposterous-but still a gruelling bedtime story.
