MARY DARLIN'

Simple, unaffected chronicle of faith, often tried, never shaken, and keyed primarily for the Roman Catholic market. The Minnesota country of The Long Tomorrow is again the background for the story of Mary Grady, who with the help of Father Pierre is able to make a career of nursing. Pioneering hospitals and the sisters that ran them, the development of modern institutions, Mary sees them all, as, with the death of the doctor she loves, she carries on his work in planning and building a new hospital, where her growing ability helps bring the place to a peak of fame. With her younger sister no longer needing her, Mary becomes a nun, suffers an injury to her eye, but is able to carry on in the expanding hospital up to her death.
