FAREWELL TO REVOLUTION

The historical approach to the question of revolution. A study of the three great cycles of revolution in the world's history, covering in their span ten distinct revolutions, and proving in every instance, that revolution ultimately takes from those who precipitate it, the very liberties they thought they were achieving, and puts in their place, dictatorship. He brings it down to the modern instances, -- Communism in Russia, the Nazi movement in Germany, Fascism in Italy. He proves the ultimate and basic truth of their similarity, all resulting in tyrany, in dictatorship, with Hitler and Mussolini profiting by observation, and going immediately to the goal they sought. He denies, however, that our choice is confined to these three roads. He claims that liberalism, in its true sense, is still alive, and may save the progress of further revolution. He acknowledges that capitalism is dead or dying, that economic planning is essential, via socialization of industry. A sound and thoughtful book, conservative enough in development to catch the middle market that leans away from the left, but will not veer wholly to the Right.
