INTRODUCING THE INSECT

An introduction to the science of entomology for beginners, with collecting hints, brief descriptions of common insects, and instructions for using a simplified identification key formulated by the author. No attempt is made here to emphasize scientific nomenflies, net-winged insects, scorpion flies, butterflies and moths, beetles, ants, bees and wasps, flies and fleas, etc. Instructions for collecting, killing and mounting insects as well as some elementary general anatomy and information about life cycles should make this book valuable for schools and summer camps in the coming season. Four full-color plates and drawings by E.B.S. Logier, an index and bibliography are included.
