THE RELEVANCE OF THE CHURCH

Canon Harry is well known to American visitors in London and to clergy who have read his previous book and articles and look upon him as one of the most ""up and coming"" younger churchmen. As a canon of Westminster Abbey and rector of a parish, a war veteran and a scholar, he is ideally equipped to write on the Relevance of the Church. It is a subject of special interest to both Christian and Pagan today and as relevant to America as to Australia where these lectures were given on the occasion of the centennial congress. Canon Barry writes from the inside as a man who known men, their fine points and frail points and who sees in the church the only answer to the public and political problems of our day. The Church's place and responsibility he feels keenly and states plainly. There have been many books on this line lately, but this is not just another one, it is different in style, in conviction, and it will be different in appeal. This is a book for the layman or student interested in world affairs, economics or politics, for the Road to War or Paths of Glory market, for honest doubters and your intelligent religious trade, Clergy or Laity. Work on this will repay you, both in plus sales and in reputation for discriminating taste.
