THE ROAD TO SERFDOM

A book which has had a very important and impressive press in England — and one which presents a case not argued before. Written by an Austrian, now at the London School of Economics, this is a warning that "it is Germany whose fate we are in some danger of repeating" by our abandonment of individualism, liberalism, freedom. It is a rebuttal of socialism or socialized planning (Laski-Chase, etc.) and of the danger in the removal of competition and laissez faire. He believes that Totalitarianism (whether in Germany or Russia) is not the product of Prussianism, but the product of the socialized thinking of Marx, etc. He believes that economic control prepares the way for totalitarianism, and that security (economic) is not as important as freedom; he believes in a certain type of "planning" — but a limited one; in Federation, but again a limited one....Food for thought, argued with logic, clarity and conviction. Controversial — which will help sales.
