THE QUANTITY OF A HAZEL NUT

This is a small book of inspirational meditations, often proceeding from the immediate and the contemporary to the universal and the eternal and for the most part testifying to the ""potent generating Love of God."" Random they are, from an accusation against a favorite saint--St. Therese of Lisieux, to the death of Kennedy: from denial, or withdrawal (the Negroes, the Jews, the old, the unwanted) to an affirmation of tolerance, charity, clemency and all the enduring values. These subdued reflections, personal but never private, are marked with a certain literary as well as spiritual grace which should give them a special imprimatur.
