Light reading, for the slightly above average rental library fan. A familiar triangle plot, centering around an exotic neurotic wife, a stick-to-his-guns husband, and a well-intentioned, wholesome little trained nurse, who comes on the scene made to order for Mr. Woodward's happiness. The unravelling of the problem, with the need for satisfying everybody's conscience proceeds in due course, with a few original twists to keep up the reader's interest. The background is a smart suburb in the bridge-luncheon-golf club set. The beautiful, unstable Mrs. Woodward is a bit unreal; but the other characters are well drawn. Deft style, good realism.
