WHO GOES TO THE WOOD

This is a publisher's pet compared by them to the Wind in the Willows. Charming though it is in parts, though the little creatures of the woods are appealing, it cannot stand up to our favorite, in our opinion. Mouse is the main character; she becomes a housekeeper for Duck and all is fine until Whatever-It-Was comes to live with them. You will have to judge for yourself, try a few copies at least so that you can read it, you could not possibly get stuck with such a beguiling jacket.
