The centenary of Garc'a Lorca's birth occasions this revised version of the masterly poetic sequence (as well as the volume above): based on the poet and playwright's nine-month period studying at Columbia, this symphonic narrative takes Garc'a Lorca beyond the gypsy-folk lyrics of his early work, and surreally depicts the spiritual emptiness of the urban landscape and the existential loneliness of the poet lost in the materialist city-itself a betrayal of Garc'a Lorca's beloved Walt Whitman.
