THE CHOKECHERRY TREE

With by no means the stature of his first novel, This Is The Year, this to Iowa for the coarse to clumsy adventures of Elof Lofblom as he stumble-fumbles though adolescence and young manhood. A failure as a theological student, Elof to his father's farm to find that a little learning has spoiled him for hard conscious of his physical inferiorities, he goes from humiliation to humiliation attempts to seduce women, -- Marge, who has been to college, and Gert, whom his has been ""girling"". He leaves the farm to try the role of traveling salesman, but efforts are no more successful and he returns home to hitch up with Gert who is and willing...Uncomfortable, unpleasant at best, most readers will find this indel and distasteful.
