GOLDEN GATE The Story of San Francisco Harbor by Felix Jr. Riesenberg

GOLDEN GATE The Story of San Francisco Harbor

By

Pub Date: Dec. 2nd, 1940
Publisher: Knopf

I'd be inclined to add San Francisco to ""Lincoln's Doctor's Dog"" as a certain seller, for San Francisco is a much-beloved city, the country over. Here is another book that taps that rich vein. There's a bit of everything here, -- history, industrial growth, early settlers and early occupations, fur trading, and gold -- on up to the waterfront strikes of 1938. Ships and lines -- waterfront activities -- and hope for the future in the great clipper ships, 1940 variety. Earthquakes and fires are lightly passed over. A book about San Francisco harbor by one who loves it.
