LAW AND POLITICS by Felix--Occasional Papers Frankfurter

LAW AND POLITICS

Pub Date: Oct. 19th, 1939
Publisher: Harcourt, Brace

A collection of the writings of Frankfurter, prior to his appointment to the Supreme Court. About one third of the papers are devoted to a critical survey of the work of the Court and evaluation of some of its members. Other essays cover many facets of law, legal education and government. The original critique on the Sacco-Vanzetti Case is the longest single essay, and still stands as a great indictment of Massachusetts justice. The writings are in the best tradition of legal scholarship. Frankfurter is a flexible critic, with great curiosity and respect for human justice in contradistinction to theoretical justice. His style is crisp and lucid. An indispensable book for anyone concerned with the potential role of Frankfurter in the controversial issues ahead of the Court, of which he is now a key member.
