KIRKUS REVIEW

For the ""interested non-specialist,"" a browsing survey of the multivalent cultures of Peru from prehistoric hunters to the Imperial period just prior to the Spanish conquest. The latter half of the book consists of bright plates illustrating the art -- pottery, tapestry, bone ornaments, etc. Especially strong on the pre-Inca civilizations.
