Tine Tron was angry and disappointed that none of her friends were at the Headland (a seashore colony in Norway) this summer. Only one boy her age appeared on the scene and he was hardly worth counting since he knew nothing about Tine's favorite hobby, sailing. Yet when the two children find themselves in a sailboat for out from shore, it is fine who pushes the panic button, and Jan who shows the greatest presence of mind. Finding refuge on a deserted island, Tine begins to see things in a brand new light, as Jan takes command of the situation and teaches her the art of survival in primitive surroundings. Strong willed girls like Tine will benefit from her self discovery as well as enjoy the setting and situation in which it takes place.
