DK presents a concept book with tactile elements accompanied by print and Braille text.

Each double-page spread presents a different shape (square, circle, triangle, star, and heart) as a die-cut hole through the page accompanied by a line of rhymed verse in large, easy-to-read print and grade 1 (not contracted) Braille for children with sight loss. Some of the shapes are embossed for additional tactile exploration. The title works for youngsters with sight as well, since the shapes are rendered in bright primary colors, and silver foil is visible through the die-cut holes. Parents and caregivers who are blind or have low vision will also welcome this title, since they can share it with their little ones. The companion book, Counting, presents an even greater variety of tactile elements embedded in the pages. There are three spongy balls, four trees with rough bark, five soft birds, and so on, taking readers through the numbers one through 10. Both titles give little ones a chance to review what they've learned at the end, though a question or two may go over toddlers’ heads (“Are there more petals than your age?”).
