KIRKUS REVIEW

Biography of a woman who knew pionner life in Wisconsin and Minnesota as a child, who went from the prairies in the mines of Idaho, where she married a mining engineer. England, Africa, Maxico (where he died); a second marriage to an Army Officer attached to the diplomatic service, and further travel to far places. Seventy years of seeing the world, under somewhat luxurious circumstances, and savoring it all to the full. Total effect pleasant, neither highbrow nor lowbrow, with an eye for amusing incidents and a feeling for the fullness of life. Something of the Roman Spring appeal, on a somewhat less elevated intellectual plane.
