GREAT DAY IN THE MORNING

A mature, personal story of a Negro girl's adjustment to the many problems that beset her in her search for a career. Love of the land, love of her family and a deep sense of responsibility save wild, tempestuous, pretty Lilybelle and bring her to her heritage of love, work and understanding. She has a hard head and warm heart and they serve her well. The dialect, while it gives a distinctive flavor to the book, may rouse some antagonism among those Negroes among the intellectuals who are going too far in their efforts to censor books about Negroes. Watch for this reaction. But the unusual background and the good story carry conviction and feeling.
