Ten year old Sarah is a minister's daughter who lived in a small town near Baltimore back in the gas jet days. Her humorously adventurous to humorously repentant escapades make lively reading. A narrative that embodies affection for the steady ways of the Church takes the onlooker right into Sarah's agile little mind- as she squares things with God over the 40¢ taken from her Mother's missionary fund- as she has summer guests, participates in an elocution contest, struggles with baby sitting etc. There are lots of episodes in a rather long book and though the wit's not at peak, there are catchy parts and of course, a happy issue out of all the afflictions.
