The sign-off: Jonathan ""wondered how it would be on his own wedding day."" Stuck with an Amish Boy (1970, p. 681, J-263), the author ascribes to him a degree of interest in the courtship, betrothal and custom-encrusted wedding of his oldest sister that would be more believable in a girl. But since there's no plot, Jonathan need have no substance -- one learns about courting buggies and late-night calls, publishing the banns (the bride banned) and most affectingly, the post-wedding party, the bride and groom's last fling, just the same. Plain show (and tell).
