KIRKUS REVIEW

Rufe Baylor, jobless construction engineer, is propositioned to impersonate a fighter in a California town's flesta, wins against the fix and earns the enmity of McGerries and his crew. McGerries' murder, framed around his wife, puts Baylor in trouble with the law and on the hunt to prove his own innocence. A two year old conspiracy, another killing and Baylor outshouts the police to a solution. Slam bang.
