THE T WAR AND THE PEOPLES' PEACE

By

Publisher: Univ. of Chicago

Historical perspective used as a corrective for misconceptions of the peace to come, in the tracing of pre-Hitlerian Europe in light of past treaties and peace terms. This is an indictment of ""Vansittartism"" and propaganda for a peace of moderation rather than a Nazi concept of tyrannical extinction. It is also a plea for cooperation rather than domination, for liberal and constructive thinking rather than planning influenced by emotions, for concessions recognizing the psychological demands of the peace. A balance to other books on ""what to do with Germany"" which argues tellingly from events of the past.
