KIRKUS REVIEW

Frances, Cavanah, who has written extensively for young readers, tells the story of the youth of Abraham Lincoln. Beginning with his birth up to the time of his election, she manages within a framework of facts to present a warm and appealing portrait of the man. Ambitious, humorous, honest, and deeply attached to his step-mother, Frances Cavanah's Lincoln is a familiar figure to those at all acquainted with the Lincoln role. There is nothing startlingly new here, either in fact or conception, but there is a friendly and entertaining portrait, well drawn and historically accurate.
