THE FLYING RED HORSE by Frances Crane

THE FLYING RED HORSE

One of the less successful of the Abbott murder mysteries, but as always a thoroughly readable story in its own right. Once again Pat Abbott is practically in on the kill, but it takes him some 200 odd pages to arrive at the identity of the criminal, while plenty of red herrings are dragged across the path, and a second murder and a kidnapping occur before the solution is reached. Jean, as always, muddies the waters by screening a suspect, and getting herself involved in a way that first diverts and then aids towards the answer. The setting is Dallas.
